Professional Support through Pregnancy and Birth
The day your baby is born will be a day you will remember for the rest of your life.
Imagine, for a moment, your ideal birth experience. Is it an intimate moment shared between you and your partner, or are you surrounded by the love of your closest friends and family? Do you envision a natural childbirth or would you prefer pain medication or a cesarean delivery? How do you want to feel while giving birth to your baby? What information do you and your partner need to feel more prepared for this experience?
Central Nebraska Doula is well-versed in the options available to families as they give birth to their baby. We understand plans may evolve and we are happy to support the choices you make.
It is our goal that you feel emotionally cared for and confident in the decisions you are making throughout your pregnancy, and respected during the delivery of your baby.
A doula does not provide medical care; instead her expertise lies in providing physical and emotional support, as well as information, education, and resources. The doula's focus is not only on the laboring individual, but the entire family unit.
Your doula will stay with you throughout your labor and work to help you feel more comfortable and relaxed. She will support your choices and offer reassurance and encouragement to increase your self confidence, and address your concerns, to reduce fear and pain.
Your doulas have a deep understanding of the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of laboring women. If desired, your doula can offer suggestions for comfort measures, such as rubbing sore muscles, applying counter pressure techniques, guiding you through relaxation techniques, and creating a comfortable environment by being conscientious of the lighting, temperature, and noise in the room. Your doula can assist with movement and positions and is familiar with tools that may aid in comfort, such as a birth ball.
Additionally, your doula understands the importance of your partner and the bonding that takes place during this time. Your doula will work to include your partner, within their comfort level, and is happy to demonstrate any technique so they are able to assist you, while also allowing them the opportunity to step out of the room, when necessary, knowing you are being cared for by a professional who has your best interest at heart.
Following the delivery, your doula will stay with you for approximately one hour to assist with baby's first feeding and to help you get settled in.
The Central Nebraska Doula Difference
Central Nebraska Doula utilizes a team approach when providing pregnancy and birth support to our clients. This means each family who purchases this service, will be assigned a team of two professionally trained doulas, who will be available to answer your questions and listen to your concerns.
As your due date approaches, you and your partner will meet with your doula team to discuss your preferences and desires for your labor and birth experience. If desired, your doulas can answer your questions about what options are available to you. Your doulas have experience supporting clients at many of the central Nebraska hospitals and strive to maintain mutually respectful relationships with physicians, midwives, and nurses.
As labor begins, you will contact the assigned primary doula. In the event of any unforeseen circumstance preventing your primary doula from attending, the alternate doula of the pair, with whom you have already established rapport, will provide in-person support during the delivery of your baby.
When choosing to receive services from Central Nebraska Doula, you will be supported by a team of doulas who are committed to you and your family.
"I unexpectedly went into labor 3 weeks early; Jenna arrived promptly and was amazing in her supportive role. She helped me try different options during labor. She also encouraged and reassured me through the labor transitions and pushing. Jenna's presence in the room kept the mood light and fun and her expertise blended well with my doctor, nurses, and husband. She surpassed and exceeded our expectations. It was a very smooth process; she made us feel comfortable and confident in our decisions, and we're grateful to have worked with her."
